God and Man

Philippians 2:5-11

5 Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped,

7 but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;

8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name;

10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,

11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I like this passage, one I don’t quite ever remember reading. It describes the process and glory in Christ becoming man in order to set the example and fulfill ultimate love. You see, he humbled himself and withheld His powers as God to be like man. it is by doing this He was able to set the example. We’ve talked before about humbling ourselves to lift others up. This is the ultimate example. That God would humble Himself to be a man in order to save us. This, my friends, is true Grace.

As he humbled himself to the lowest, even to the point of death, He showed that the lower you become, the higher God will lift you up. that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He became the lowest and was exalted as the highest. This is the example we should follow. Obedient even unto death. it is through this obedience of humbling ourselves and laying down our pride that we are able to be lifted up by God in His kingdom.

That every tongue should confess… this makes me remember that when Christ returns, all will proclaim he is Lord, however if you haven’t believed up until then, at the time of His return, it will be too late to be saved. Its a hard thing to swallow but it is the truth. He gave us the Way, yet some still deny it. Why? Pride. We want to be our own savior, by saving ourselves and “doing good”. Christ did the best and He gave that qualification to us, so why don’t we take it?

Will you accept The Gift before it’s too late?
